This is how concrete crushing used to be done. I’ve been informed that this crusher dates back to around 1920, so 100 years old! This one still actively runs and crushes concrete. They don’t make them like they used to.
It weighs in at around 4 tonnes and runs using a Lister engine. They used to be pulled by road rollers and used to break up the roads that the workers dug up for repairs.
I haven’t seen it in action yet but have seen the finished product which is great. I have been told that once it’s running, which it does on a regular basis, they’ll let me know and I can get some video of it crushing some concrete and post it up for you to see.

We managed to get some footage of the concrete crusher in action so here it is. It’s driven by a belt from a tractor as you can see – it works on the same principle as todays concrete crushers – they don’t make them like they used to!
There’s no conveyor belt on this one so it’s all handballing – makes for a good workout!
